Wyze Cam v4 vs Blink Mini 2

We prefer the Wyze Cam v4 over the Blink Mini 2 unless you already pay for Blink. The Wyze is sharper and records to a card. The Blink is the right add-on inside a Blink house.

Wyze Cam v4 vs Blink Mini 2

The Wyze Cam v4 and the Blink Mini 2 are the two fixed cameras people compare when they want to spend as little as possible. Our preference is the Wyze. Wyze lists a 2.5K picture and a microSD slot. Blink lists 1080p and an ecosystem that expects a subscription or a Sync Module before the camera feels finished. If you already live in Blink, the Mini 2 is the consistent choice and this page should not talk you out of one app. If you are starting, do not start there.

The two-year price is the whole comparison. Write down the Mini 2 plus 24 months of the Blink plan you would actually buy. Write down the Wyze plus a memory card. The second number is usually the honest cheap option. The under $40 guide uses the same math.

Both are poor pan cameras because they are not pan cameras. Do not add a second Mini or a second Wyze in the same room to fake a pan. Move up to a C225.

Put both on the same shelf for an evening if you already own them. The Wyze crop on a face at the door stays readable a step further than the Blink crop. That is the practical meaning of 2.5K versus 1080p, and it shows up when you are trying to tell two similar jackets apart. The Blink only ties that test if the rest of the house is already inside its app and you refuse a second login. A new buyer should not create that constraint in order to keep a smaller camera.

Both are plug-in and fixed. Neither pans.

The preference

Buy the Wyze Cam v4. It is the better camera in the specs that matter indoors: more pixels, a card, a normal app, no requirement that you join a subscription family. Buy the Blink Mini 2 only when the Blink app is already how you look at the other cameras and the plan is a sunk cost. Adding Blink as a new bill to save ten dollars on hardware is the expensive version of thrift.

Neither camera should be your whole-room solution if people walk out of a fixed frame. That is the pan-and-tilt guide. This page is for a door, a crate, a desk, a hallway.

Shared weakness

Both use a spotlight when they want color at night. In a hall that is useful. Next to a crib it is not. If night comfort is the reason you are shopping, leave both and read the night vision guide, where the C225's starlight sensor is the point.

Where to check the current price

Street prices move with sales. These links search a major retailer for the model named in this review. Confirm the exact model number on the listing before you pay.

Questions people ask before they buy

Can the Blink Mini 2 record without a subscription?

Blink's own setup pushes a Sync Module for local clips and a subscription for the timeline people expect. If you need a promise of no fee, buy the Wyze and a card.

Is the Wyze weatherproof?

Wyze has rated the Cam v4 for indoor and outdoor use. You can still use it as a plain indoor camera. Do not hang it in the rain unless you have read the current rating and aimed it accordingly.

Which is smaller?

The Blink Mini 2. Size is not the reason to accept 1080p and a plan. Hide the Wyze on a shelf. It is not large.
