Wyze Cam Pan v3 Review

The Wyze Cam Pan v3 is a 1080p pan camera we would buy only on a deep sale, and only if you already use Wyze. A Tapo C225 or a Reolink E1 Pro is the better new purchase.

Wyze Cam Pan v3 Review

Bestindoorcam.com may earn a commission if you buy through a store link. That does not change which camera we prefer. Read how affiliate links and ads work and how we review.

The Wyze Cam Pan v3 is the pan camera we have stopped recommending as a default. It moves, it plugs in, and it takes a card, all of which we like, and it does those things at 1080p, which is no longer the picture we want in a living room. Buy it only as a cheap extra inside a Wyze house. Buy a Tapo C225 if you are choosing a pan camera fresh.

There is no prize for loyalty to a model name. Wyze's own Cam v4 is sharper and fixed. Reolink's E1 Pro is sharper and still pans. The Pan v3 sits between them as a discount. Treat a discount as a reason, then look at the picture you will crop.

If you already own one and the room is a hallway, keep it until it fails. Replacement, when it comes, should be a 2K pan camera or a 2.5K fixed camera, not another 1080p motor.

If the Pan v3 you own still covers a small room without you cropping every clip, keep using it. Replacement is for the day the motor sticks or the face at the far door becomes a blur you cannot accept. On that day, do not buy the same 1080p idea again from a random listing. Move to a 2K pan camera or to the fixed Cam v4 if you have learned that the room never needed to move. A stuck motor is not a reason to add a subscription brand.

If the Pan v3 is gone from Wyze's store, do not buy a loose used one with no returns.

Only in a narrow case

The case is: you already use the Wyze app, the Pan v3 is deeply discounted, and the room is small enough that 1080p will not be cropped hard. Outside that case, buy the Tapo C225. The E1 Pro comparison explains the sharper alternative if you want a recorder later.

The fixed Wyze Cam v4 is the newer Wyze we do recommend, because 2.5K fixed beats 1080p pan when the view does not need to move.

What it still does

It plugs in, it pans, and it can record to a card. Those are real. Tracking and 1080p together are how you get a soft face at the far end of a sofa. If you are cropping every clip, you have the wrong sensor, not the wrong preset.

Where to check the current price

Street prices move with sales. These links search a major retailer for the model named in this review. Confirm the exact model number on the listing before you pay.

Questions people ask before they buy

Should I buy two Pan v3s instead of one C225?

No. One better camera, then a fixed v4 for the hall.

Does it support HomeKit?

No.

Is the motor loud?

Audible in a quiet bedroom, like most pan cameras of this class. High on a shelf, not on the nightstand.
