Reolink E1 Pro vs Wyze Cam Pan v3
We prefer the Reolink E1 Pro over the Wyze Cam Pan v3. The Reolink is the sharper pan camera and the one that can grow into a local recorder. The Wyze Pan v3 only wins on a deep discount if you already use Wyze.

The Reolink E1 Pro is the camera we prefer over the Wyze Cam Pan v3. You get a sharper 4MP-class picture, pan and tilt, local recording, and a brand that expects some people to add a recorder later. The Pan v3 is 1080p. That was enough once. It is now the camera to buy only on a deep sale inside a house that already uses Wyze.
There is a third door. The Tapo C225 costs about the same as a discounted pan camera and adds the night-vision style and the shutter we actually miss on both of these. If you do not care about ONVIF or RTSP, go there. If those acronyms are why you searched Reolink, the E1 Pro is the right yes, and the E1 Zoom is the step up when optical zoom is the next sentence.
Older Wyze pan against a Reolink
| Spec | Reolink E1 Pro | Wyze Cam Pan v3 |
|---|---|---|
| Picture | 4MP class | 1080p |
| Pan | Yes | Yes |
| Local | Card, plus NVR-friendly protocols on many units | Card, Wyze app |
| When it wins | You might add a recorder | You already own Wyze and the price is very low |
The Tapo C225 is the third camera in this decision and often the one we would buy instead of the Pan v3.
Leave the Pan v3 unless it is nearly free
The Wyze Cam Pan v3 was a sensible cheap pan camera. It is 1080p in a year when the C225 is 2K and the E1 Pro is a 4MP class camera. We prefer the E1 Pro if you are choosing only between these two names, because the picture and the chance of an NVR are both real. We prefer the C225 over both if you want starlight night vision and a shutter and you have no interest in RTSP. This page exists so the Pan v3 does not win on familiarity alone.
If your other cameras are Wyze and the Pan v3 is on a steep sale, keep one app. Familiarity is allowed to win a small room. It is not allowed to win a living room you will crop into every evening.
What 4MP changes
You can crop a doorway a little harder and still read a face. You cannot invent light the room does not have. The E1 Pro's night performance should be judged in your hall, not by the megapixel count. Reolink's infrared range claims are longer than a typical indoor need. Use the extra detail, not the foot count, as the reason.
Where to check the current price

Questions people ask before they buy
Is the Pan v3 discontinued?
It has been widely discounted as newer Wyze cameras arrived. If you cannot find it from Wyze, do not hunt a gray-market one. Buy a C225 or an E1 Pro.
Does the E1 Pro pan far enough for a living room?
Yes, with the usual limit that furniture blocks infrared and the lens. One room, not the whole flat.
Can I use the E1 Pro without a computer?
Yes. The Reolink app is enough. The NVR is optional, which is the point of preferring it over a camera that only works inside a subscription.
