Tapo C225 vs eufy Indoor Cam S350

Prefer the eufy S350 when one camera must cover a large room and look closer. Prefer the Tapo C225 when you want pan, a shutter, and starlight night vision for much less money.

Tapo C225 vs eufy Indoor Cam S350

Bestindoorcam.com may earn a commission if you buy through a store link. That does not change which camera we prefer. Read how affiliate links and ads work and how we review.

The Tapo C225 and the eufy Indoor Cam S350 are the two pan-and-tilt indoor cameras we recommend most, and they are not duplicates at two prices. The C225 is 2K, it has TP-Link's starlight night vision and a physical shutter, and it records to a card. The S350 adds a second lens, a 4K wide view plus a 2K telephoto, and eufy's tracking story. Our preference follows the room. Large room, S350. Careful budget or a room where you want the lens physically closed, C225.

Wifi is the quiet difference. TP-Link's C225 page describes 2.4 GHz. eufy's S350 page describes dual-band, including the 5 GHz side. In a crowded apartment that alone can justify the S350 if your 2.4 GHz air is a mess and the camera will sit far from the router. It does not justify it if the router is on the same shelf.

Both can be used without a monthly fee. That puts them on the same side of the subscription argument and against Blink or Ring as value picks. Choose between these two. Do not let a third brand's coupon interrupt a decision you have already narrowed this far.

Our preference

For a living room, the S350. The telephoto is the reason, not the logo. A 2K pan camera can turn toward a person and still hand you a soft crop when you pinch in. The S350 is built so the close view is a different lens. For a bedroom, a nursery, or a second room, the C225. You keep pan and tilt, you gain a shutter we like beside a place people sleep, and you keep a large part of the purchase price.

If you are buying two cameras, do not buy two S350s out of symmetry. One S350 in the main room and one C225 or a Wyze Cam v4 in the hall is the bill we would rather see.

Who should ignore both

Ignore both if you need HomeKit Secure Video. The S350 is not that camera, and the C225 is not either. Read the HomeKit guide. Ignore both if the house is already paying for Ring or Nest and you refuse a second app. Then you are buying an ecosystem, and this page is the wrong fight.

Where to check the current price

Street prices move with sales. These links search a major retailer for the model named in this review. Confirm the exact model number on the listing before you pay.

Questions people ask before they buy

Is the S350 worth twice the C225?

When the room is large and you will use the close lens, yes. When the camera stares at a door eight feet away, no.

Which is better at night?

The C225 if you want color without a spotlight. The S350 if you need to pan onto a far subject and then look closer. Test both claims in your actual lighting.

Do I need a HomeBase for the S350?

No. eufy sells the camera with a card slot. A HomeBase is an expansion, not the ticket to turn it on.
