Ring Indoor Cam Review
The Ring Indoor Cam is the camera we prefer when Ring Protect is already paid for a doorbell. The privacy cover is the hardware highlight. The plan is the product.
Bestindoorcam.com may earn a commission if you buy through a store link. That does not change which camera we prefer. Read how affiliate links and ads work and how we review.
The Ring Indoor Cam belongs in a Ring house. It is a plug-in 1080p camera with a physical privacy cover and a history that lives in Ring Protect. Our preference is to add it when that plan already exists for a doorbell, and to skip it when it would be the reason you open the plan. A Tapo C225 or a Wyze Cam v4 will spend the same money on a sensor and a card instead of a subscription.
The cover is the detail we would not shrug at. In an office or a bedroom, a lens you can physically close is worth more than a small gain in a spec that Ring is not winning anyway. Close it when people are home and the camera's job is done for the day.
Do not pair it with a new Blink subscription in the same month. One Amazon security bill is the rule.
Open Ring Protect's device list and see whether the indoor cam is included or whether it is about to raise the plan. That screen is the review. A privacy cover does not discount a second fee. If the doorbell's plan already stretches to this camera, mount it inside, test the cover, and stop shopping. If the plan jumps, put the camera back and buy a card-based camera for the indoor job.

The doorbell decides it
If Ring Protect is already on your statement, an indoor Ring cam is the consistent next camera. You keep one timeline. The privacy cover is why we would choose it over a Blink Mini 2 for a bedroom inside that same decision, which is the Blink versus Ring page. If you do not have a Ring doorbell, this camera is a subscription starter kit. We would not start there.
Alexa can show it. That is not unique enough to beat a card-recording camera. The Alexa guide says when the speaker matters and when it does not.
Picture and the cover
1080p is ordinary now. The cover is not. Use it. A privacy mode in an app is easier to forget than a lid you can see. Aim the camera at a door or a room you have agreed to watch, then close the cover when the agreement pauses.

Questions people ask before they buy
Does Ring Protect cover indoor and doorbell together?
Plans vary by how many devices you set. Read the current Ring plan before you assume the doorbell's subscription includes the indoor cam for free.
Can it record locally?
Ring's design is the cloud plan. If local storage is the requirement, buy a Tapo, eufy, Reolink, or Wyze instead.
Is the cover a shutter like the C225?
It is a physical cover, which is the part we care about. The rest of the camera is still a 1080p Ring camera with a plan.
