eufy Indoor Cam E220 vs Tapo C210

Prefer the eufy E220 only if the listing in front of you actually includes HomeKit Secure Video. Prefer the Tapo C210, or better the C225, if you do not need Apple Home.

The eufy E220 versus the Tapo C210 is a HomeKit question wearing a spec sheet. Both are 2K pan-and-tilt indoor cameras. The E220 is the one to buy when Apple Home is the point and the listing says HomeKit Secure Video. The C210 is the one to buy when it is cheap and you simply want a room to pan. Our actual preference, if you do not need HomeKit, is usually neither: it is the newer C225, which adds the shutter and the starlight sensor the C210 does not have.

If you do need HomeKit, compare the E220's price with the Aqara Camera Hub G3 before you check out. The G3's shutter is the feature we do not want you to give up just because a eufy coupon arrived. Apple's hub and iCloud plan are part of either HomeKit purchase. Count them.

Write down whether anyone in the house will open the Apple Home app without being asked. If the answer is no, the E220's HomeKit line is a sticker. Pay for the C225 instead of either camera in this headline and get the shutter. If the answer is yes, confirm the E220 listing still says HomeKit Secure Video in your country, then compare its price with the Aqara G3 before you save ten dollars and lose the ability to cover the lens.

If HomeKit is the goal, also price the Aqara G3. If it is not, price the C225 before the C210.

Do not buy the E220 for the brand alone

The E220 makes sense when you have an Apple home hub, you want HomeKit Secure Video, and the product page in your cart says HomeKit. It does not make sense as a prettier Tapo. The C210 records to a card, pans, and costs less. It also lacks the C225's starlight sensor and shutter, which is why we often tell C210 shoppers to step to the C225 versus C210 page and spend the small gap.

If the E220 listing does not mention HomeKit, you are looking at a different camera than the one this headline assumes. Stop and read the box. eufy uses similar names across years.

The Apple bill

HomeKit Secure Video needs iCloud room and a hub. Add that to the E220 before you call it a deal against a C210. The HomeKit guide includes the Aqara G3, which we prefer when you want pan, a shutter, and HomeKit in one device. The E220 is the pick when it is cheaper than the G3 and the listing is clear.

Where to check the current price

Street prices move with sales. These links search a major retailer for the model named in this review. Confirm the exact model number on the listing before you pay.

Questions people ask before they buy

Is the C210 a bad camera?

No. It is a competent 2K pan camera. It is just rarely the one we would pick new, because the C225 is close in price and kinder at night.

Will the E220 work without HomeKit?

Yes, in the eufy app, if that is how the model is built. You would then be paying a HomeKit price for a job the C225 does with a shutter. Skip it.

Can the C210 use a large memory card?

TP-Link publishes a limit that is lower on older models than on the C225. Check the C210 manual. Do not assume 512 GB because the newer camera allows it.
