TL;DR The Aqara Camera Hub G350 is Aqara's flagship indoor hub-camera and, per Aqara, the first camera certified for Matter. It pairs a 4K wide-angle lens (133°) with a 2.5K telephoto lens for 9x hybrid zoom, adds motorised 360° pan-tilt with AI auto-tracking, and still does hub duty — Zigbee, Thread, Matter Controller and bridge in one body. Local AI covers face, pet, gesture and six sound detections, recording can stay local on microSD up to 512GB, and Apple Home use is capped at 1080p. Trade-offs: 20 fps, platform support for Matter cameras is still uneven, cloud recording needs Aqara's HomeGuardian plan, and no power adapter is listed in the box.

Overview

Earlier Aqara hub-cameras split the range by simplicity and movement: the fixed G2H Pro kept things small, while the G3 added pan-tilt and gesture control. The G350 sits above both. It is a dual-lens, pan-tilt camera first, and a multi-protocol hub second — built for a mixed-platform home that wants one device to watch a main living space and to pull Aqara and Matter accessories together.

If you are comparing within the family, start with our Aqara Camera Hub G3 review for the previous flagship formula, and our Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro review for the simpler fixed-camera hub. The G350 is the step up from both: more resolution, a second telephoto lens, Wi-Fi 6, Thread, and Matter camera certification.

Specs verified against Aqara's official global product page at aqara.com and its official EU store page at eu.aqara.com. Two honest caveats from those pages themselves: Aqara's imperial conversions do not match its own metric figures — 123 × 85 × 68 mm is not the inch figure printed beside it, and the Fahrenheit range printed beside -10°C to +45°C is likewise off — so we publish the metric values only. Aqara also gives the hub sub-device limits only on its EU store page, not in the global spec table, so those numbers are attributed to that page above.

Key features

First Matter-certified camera — with a platform caveat

The headline is standards history: Aqara presents the G350 as the first camera certified for Matter, so in principle the same camera can expose live view, two-way talk and alerts directly to Matter ecosystems instead of only through a vendor bridge. Aqara is candid about the limit, though — it notes that Matter camera support exists at specification level while platform adoption is still limited and varies by ecosystem. Treat Matter here as future-proofing that is already certified in the hardware, not as a guarantee that every platform exposes every camera feature today. That cross-platform ambition is also why the G350 belongs in our best indoor cameras for Apple HomeKit roundup discussion: Apple households get it through HomeKit Secure Video now, with Matter as the longer-term path.

Dual lenses: 4K wide plus 2.5K telephoto, 9x hybrid zoom

Instead of asking one sensor to do everything, the G350 splits the job. The wide lens covers the room at 4K, and the telephoto lens handles close-ups at 2.5K, combining for a claimed 9x hybrid zoom. Aqara offers zoom by dial, by tapping a fixed shortcut, by dragging a box, or by pinch — and the f/1.6 aperture is meant to help the 940nm night vision stay usable in total darkness.

AI tracking that can zoom in on the subject

Auto-tracking follows people and pets, and the close-up variant adds an appropriate level of zoom rather than only centring the subject. Aqara says pan/tilt speed eases off automatically as zoom increases, to reduce overshoot and motion blur on distant close-ups, and that the camera returns to its starting position after the subject leaves. Note that Aqara says this tracking is configured in the Aqara Home app, not in third-party platforms.

Local AI: faces, pets, gestures and six sounds

Aqara stresses that its image and sound detection runs on the device rather than being uploaded for processing. The list covers faces, pets, person and lens-obstruction detection, smile-triggered capture, static and dynamic gesture recognition for triggering scenes, and six sound types — its examples are a baby crying, coughing and a dog barking. That is a broader on-device detection set than most indoor cameras in this class publish.

A hub as well as a camera: Zigbee, Thread and Matter

As a hub, the G350 links Aqara Zigbee accessories, works as a Thread border router, acts as a Matter Controller, and bridges Aqara devices into Matter platforms while pulling third-party Matter devices into Aqara Home. The EU store's stated ceiling is 80 Aqara Zigbee sub-devices, or a mixed 40 Zigbee plus 40 Thread — useful headroom for a main-room hub, though third-party Zigbee sub-devices are explicitly not supported.

Storage and privacy: local first, physical shutter

Recording can stay in the house on microSD (up to 512GB, Class 10 or above) with 24/7 recording, with NAS back-up available via the SD card, or move to Aqara's encrypted cloud under HomeGuardian, or to iCloud through HomeKit Secure Video. For privacy, Aqara's EU page describes a physical mode in which the lens retracts completely when the camera is off — a stronger assurance than a software-only mute.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • First Matter-certified camera, per Aqara — certified future-proofing in the hardware
  • Dual lenses: 4K wide (133°) plus 2.5K telephoto, 9x hybrid zoom, f/1.6, 940nm night vision
  • 360° pan-tilt with AI auto-tracking, close-up tracking, presets and scheduled cruise
  • On-device face, pet, gesture, smile and six-sound detection — no cloud processing claimed
  • Zigbee + Thread hub, Matter Controller and bridge in the same device
  • Local microSD recording up to 512GB, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 with WPA3, physical privacy mode

Cons

  • Matter camera features depend on each platform's adoption, which Aqara itself calls limited and variable
  • Apple Home caps the camera at 1080p; HomeKit Secure Video needs an iCloud+ plan and an Apple Home hub
  • 20 fps is modest for a flagship-priced camera
  • Cloud recording requires the HomeGuardian plan; Home Assistant is streaming-only per Aqara
  • No power adapter is listed in the box contents, and third-party Zigbee sub-devices are not supported by the hub
  • Aqara's own pages contain sloppy unit conversions (dimensions and temperature) — metric figures are the ones to trust

Who it's for

The G350 is for a mixed-platform household building around Matter: one purchase covers a main room in 4K, follows people and pets around it, and doubles as the Zigbee/Thread/Matter hub for the accessories that follow. It also suits Apple Home users who want HomeKit Secure Video plus local microSD recording in the same camera — see our wider look at Apple smart home cameras for how the ecosystem choices compare.

It's not for: buyers who need full 4K inside Apple Home today (Aqara caps Apple Home at 1080p), anyone expecting every Matter platform to expose the camera identically right now, buyers who want a cheap single-room camera with no hub ambitions, or outdoor use — Aqara positions this as an indoor camera.

FAQ

Is the Aqara G350 really the first Matter camera?

That is Aqara's own positioning on its official pages: it calls the G350 the first (and world's first) Matter-certified camera. Aqara also cautions, on the same pages, that Matter camera support has been introduced at specification level and that platform-level adoption remains limited and varies by ecosystem — so certification is in the device, while what each platform shows you can differ.

What resolution does the Aqara G350 record at?

Aqara's spec table lists 3840 × 2160 for the wide-angle lens and 2560 × 1440 for the telephoto lens, at 20 fps in H.264. One platform exception is stated by Aqara itself: within Apple Home the resolution is limited to 1080p, and it may be reduced further on a poor network connection.

How many devices can the G350 hub connect?

Aqara's EU store page states up to 80 Aqara Zigbee sub-devices, or 40 Aqara Zigbee plus 40 Thread sub-devices. The global spec table does not publish a number, and Aqara notes that third-party Zigbee devices are not supported as sub-devices.

Does the Aqara G350 need a subscription?

Not for local recording: it records to a microSD card you supply (Class 10 or above, up to 512GB), and HomeKit Secure Video uses your iCloud+ storage. Aqara's own encrypted cloud recording is part of its HomeGuardian plan. Note that Aqara's regional pages describe the HomeGuardian trial differently — the global page says a free trial is included and activated automatically, while the EU page says cloud storage requires manual opt-in with no automatic trials — so check which terms apply in your region.

Does the Aqara G350 work with Home Assistant, Alexa and Google Home?

Aqara lists HomeKit Secure Video, Home Assistant, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings. It qualifies the Home Assistant integration as streaming only, and notes that recording availability depends on the platform and any subscription.
