Wyze Duo Cam Pan vs Wyze Cam Pan v4

TL;DR

  • The short version: the Duo Cam Pan ($69.98 on wyze.com) gives you two 2K cameras in one body — a fixed lens plus a top pan-and-tilt lens that tracks motion. The Cam Pan v4 ($59.98) gives you one sharper 4K lens, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a physical Privacy Mode for $10 less.
  • Buy the Duo Cam Pan if coverage matters more than pixel count: a porch plus a driveway, a doorway plus the room behind you, or any spot where a single panning camera would leave a blind spot while it turns.
  • Buy the Cam Pan v4 if detail matters more: faces and plates at a distance, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and a lens you can physically point down for privacy.
  • Shared ground: both pan 360° / tilt 180°, are IP65-rated, record 24/7 to a microSD card up to 512 GB with no subscription required, and use a 100 dB siren and color night vision.
  • How this comparison was made: this is a spec-based comparison built only from Wyze's official pages and support specs, checked in October 2026. We have not hands-on tested either camera.

Overview

These are the two cameras most Wyze shoppers choose between, and they answer the same question — how do I watch a whole space with one device? — in opposite ways. The Cam Pan v4 bets on one excellent eye: a single 4K lens on a motorized head. The Duo Cam Pan bets on two good eyes: a fixed 2K lens holding your most important view, stacked with a second 2K lens that pans, tilts, and follows motion. One device, one cable, two simultaneous viewpoints.

Picture a delivery driver walking up your path while a car pulls in behind them. A single pan-and-tilt camera must choose which to follow; the Duo does not — its moving lens tracks one subject while its fixed lens keeps recording the other. The trade is resolution: the Pan v4 records that driver in 3840 × 2160, roughly twice the pixels per frame of either Duo lens at 2304 × 1296, so a face or plate stays readable further away.

For either camera on its own, see our full Wyze Duo Cam Pan review and our full Wyze Cam Pan v4 review. This page is the head-to-head. Where Wyze's own pages disagree, we flag it under the spec table rather than picking a number quietly.

Source note: specifications are from wyze.com and support.wyze.com, checked October 2026. One flag: Wyze's Cam Pan v4 product page labels its temperature ranges inconsistently, listing −4°F to 122°F as a storage range. The table uses −4°F to 122°F as the operating range, matching Wyze's support-side listing for this model; treat the product-page labels as a Wyze typo. Prices are US 1-pack list prices at the time of checking and change with sales.

Key features and the differences that matter

Two views vs one sharper view — the whole decision

Everything else is secondary to this. The Duo's fixed lens has a wide 127.5° diagonal field of view and never moves, so the view aimed at your door, crib, or driveway is always recording — even while the top lens is turned around following something else. The Pan v4's single lens is narrower at 105.4° diagonal, but it is 4K, and its motor widens its effective coverage. The Duo wins on simultaneity; the Pan v4 wins on detail in whatever it is looking at, and its 8x digital zoom gives you more to work with when you zoom into a recording afterwards.

Tracking behavior

Wyze describes the Pan v4's tracking as AI-powered object tracking for people, pets, and vehicles, with a customizable priority for the subject type that matters most. The Duo's moving lens does motion tracking plus Pan Scan patrols between up to four waypoints — and tracking never costs you the fixed view. The Pan v4 also supports up to four waypoints. The generational step up is covered in our Wyze Cam Pan v4 vs Wyze Cam Pan v3 comparison.

Night vision and spotlights

Both offer color night vision, a motion-activated spotlight, and a 100 dB siren. On paper the Duo is brighter: four white spotlight LEDs rated at 80 lumens in total, spotlights for both views, Wide Dynamic Range, and four IR LEDs. The Pan v4 uses a single 60-lumen spotlight and a starlight sensor for color in low light (Wyze notes you turn Night Vision off in the app to use that mode), falling back to two IR LEDs in total darkness. Neither night spec is weak; the Duo simply brings more light hardware.

Wi-Fi: the quiet, decisive difference

The Pan v4 connects to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and supports Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6. The Duo is 2.4 GHz only, with Wi-Fi 6 on that band — a real constraint for a camera streaming two 2K feeds. The 2.4 GHz band travels further through walls, which suits a distant mount, but it is also the more crowded band in dense housing. If your mounting spot has strong 5 GHz coverage, the Pan v4 has the more flexible radio; if the Duo is going by a garage or at the far end of a house, test your 2.4 GHz signal there first.

Privacy, storage, and subscriptions

Privacy is a clean win for the Pan v4. Its physical Privacy Mode points the lens down and turns the camera off — a visible, mechanical guarantee that suits a bedroom. Wyze is blunt about the Duo: there is no Privacy Mode, because one lens is stationary. Do not buy the Duo for a room where you need that guarantee.

On storage they tie: both record 24/7 to a microSD card up to 512 GB, sold separately, with no subscription required for live view, alerts, or local recording. The paid layer is presented differently. The Pan v4 page explicitly names Cam Plus, Cam Unlimited, and Cam Unlimited Pro, and promotes 60-day cloud backups, AI Video Search, and Descriptive Alerts. The Duo page talks mainly about Cam Plus for AI alerts and cloud backup; Web View requires an active plan on both. Neither camera requires a plan to record.

Build, mounting, and outdoor use

Both are plug-in, IP65-rated, and mount on a tabletop, wall, or ceiling, with a kit in the box. The Duo is taller and heavier at 5.26 inches and 300 g; the Pan v4 is 274.8 g. Both ship with an indoor-rated adapter and 6-foot USB-C cable, and both need Wyze's separate Universal Outdoor Power Adapter outdoors. The Duo's 113°F operating ceiling, against the Pan v4's 122°F, matters only for a sun-baked mount in a hot climate.

Pros and cons

Wyze Duo Cam Pan — pros

  • Two simultaneous 2K views from one device and one cable — the fixed lens removes the classic pan-camera blind spot
  • Wider field of view per lens (127.5° diagonal) than the Pan v4
  • Brighter spotlight hardware on paper: 80 lumens and WDR
  • Motion tracking plus Pan Scan patrols across up to 4 waypoints
  • 100 dB siren and simultaneous two-way talk
  • 24/7 recording to 512 GB microSD with no subscription required; IP65 indoor/outdoor use

Wyze Duo Cam Pan — cons

  • 2K per lens, not 4K — less detail to zoom into than the cheaper Pan v4
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; no 5 GHz band
  • No Privacy Mode, and Wyze says the dual-lens design makes a physical one impossible
  • Taller and heavier; outdoor use still needs a separately sold outdoor power adapter
  • Operating ceiling of 113°F, lower than the Pan v4's 122°F

Wyze Cam Pan v4 — pros

  • True 4K (3840 × 2160) with 8x digital zoom at a $59.98 list price
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 + 5 GHz) with Wi-Fi 6 — the more flexible radio
  • AI-powered person, pet, and vehicle tracking with customizable priority
  • Physical Privacy Mode — lens down, camera off
  • Color night vision via starlight sensor plus a 60-lumen spotlight and IR
  • 512 GB microSD support, IP65 rating, and Cam Plus / Unlimited / Unlimited Pro support

Wyze Cam Pan v4 — cons

  • One lens only: while it tracks in one direction, everything behind it is unwatched
  • Narrower 105.4° diagonal field of view — it relies on its motor to cover a room
  • Single spotlight LED at 60 lumens, dimmer on paper than the Duo's setup
  • Best AI alerts and Web View sit behind a paid plan
  • No Apple HomeKit — and the same is true of the Duo

Who should buy which

Buy the Wyze Duo Cam Pan if your space has two things worth watching at once: a front door and a driveway, a nursery door and the crib, a shop entrance and the counter. It is also the better pick for a corner mount covering two sides of a yard. Accept its compromises knowingly: 2K instead of 4K, 2.4 GHz only, and no privacy shutter.

Buy the Wyze Cam Pan v4 if you mostly watch one area and want the clearest record of it — identifying a person at distance or reading detail when you zoom. It is also the right pick if you need 5 GHz Wi-Fi, if it will live in a private space where physical Privacy Mode matters, or if you want the lower price: $59.98, $10 less than the Duo, with the sharper image.

Buy neither if you need battery power (both are plug-in only) or Apple HomeKit (neither supports it).

FAQ

Which is better, the Wyze Duo Cam Pan or the Wyze Cam Pan v4?

Neither is better outright. The Duo Cam Pan ($69.98) watches two views at once in 2K, so nothing goes unrecorded while it tracks. The Cam Pan v4 ($59.98) watches one view in 4K, with dual-band Wi-Fi and Privacy Mode. Choose coverage or detail.

Does the Wyze Duo Cam Pan record in 4K?

No. Each of its two lenses records in 2K (2304 × 1296). If 4K resolution is your priority, the single-lens Cam Pan v4 at 3840 × 2160 is the Wyze pan camera that offers it.

Which lens moves on the Wyze Duo Cam Pan?

The top lens. Wyze states the top camera moves and carries the status light; the bottom camera is fixed and carries the speaker and microphone. The moving lens pans 360°, tilts 180°, and performs motion tracking and Pan Scan.

Do either of these cameras require a subscription?

No. Both record 24/7 to a microSD card up to 512 GB (sold separately) and offer live view and motion and sound alerts without a plan. Paid plans add AI alerts, cloud backup, and features such as Web View; the Pan v4 is listed as working with Cam Plus, Cam Unlimited, and Cam Unlimited Pro.

Can both cameras be used outdoors?

Yes — both are IP65-rated for indoor and outdoor use. Wyze requires its Universal Outdoor Power Adapter (sold separately) outdoors on both, because the included adapter is indoor-rated, and advises covering the SD card slot.

Where to buy

Prices move with sales — confirm “Duo Cam Pan” or “Cam Pan v4” on the listing before you pay. US list prices on wyze.com when checked were $69.98 and $59.98 respectively.
