EZVIZ C6N Review: 1080p Pan-Tilt With Smart Tracking and Smart IR

Overview
The C6N is EZVIZ's long-running budget pan-tilt camera: a white ball-on-a-base design that sits on a shelf or mounts with the included base and screw kit, then turns to follow what is happening in the room instead of staring at one corner. On paper it goes head-to-head with the camera in our TP-Link Tapo C200 review — the same 1080p pan-tilt formula at a similar budget tier — and the honest differences are in the details below, not the headline resolution.

One naming caution before anything else: EZVIZ's own site now also lists a C6N 3MP (2K), a C6N 4MP and a newer C6N G1 4K under similar names. This review covers only the 1080p US model, CS-C6N-A0-1C2WFR, in the spec table below. If a listing promises 2K, 3MP, 4MP or 4K, that is a different camera with a different lens, storage ceiling and price.

Specs verified against ezviz.com — the official US C6N product page (model CS-C6N-A0-1C2WFR) and its specifications table. Two honesty notes: the US spec table gives no maximum frame rate (it says only "self-adaptive during network transmission"), so none is claimed here, even though some regional EZVIZ pages for this model list 15fps; and the US page does not name an Alexa or Google Assistant integration in its specifications, so none is claimed here either. EZVIZ publishes no US list price on the product page, so no price is stated in this review.
Key features
1080p video with a 75° horizontal lens
The C6N records at 1920 × 1080 through a 4mm F2.4 lens on a 1/4-inch sensor, with 3D noise reduction and digital WDR. That is honest entry-level detail — enough to check a room, a pet or a doorway, not to read small text across it. If faces and licence-plate-level detail matter, a 3MP step-up such as the camera in our TP-Link Tapo C210 review records a visibly larger frame for a similar pan-tilt format.
Pan, tilt and smart tracking
The motorised head rotates 340° horizontally and 55° vertically — EZVIZ describes the result, lens angle included, as 360° visual coverage. When the camera detects a moving object, smart tracking turns the head to follow it while sending an alert with an image. That combination is why the C6N belongs in any conversation about our best pan-and-tilt indoor cameras roundup — with the caveat in the next section about what its detection can and cannot tell apart.
Motion detection — and its limit
The official smart-alarm specification for this model lists one thing: motion detection. There is no person, pet or vehicle detection in the C6N's US spec table, so a curtain moving in a draught and a person crossing the room are the same kind of event to this camera. Smart tracking will follow either. Buyers who need the camera itself to filter alerts by subject should budget for a model that lists that detection explicitly.

Smart IR night vision to 10 metres
After dark the C6N switches automatically via its IR-cut filter, and its Smart IR adjusts the infrared intensity to reduce the blown-out, overexposed look that plain IR can give a face or object close to the camera. EZVIZ rates the range at up to 10 metres (33ft) — a full living-room length, on paper.
Local storage to 256GB, plus cloud and NVR options
A microSD slot takes cards up to 256GB for local recording, and the official page lists encrypted EZVIZ Cloud storage and an EZVIZ NVR as further places to save footage — it says the camera can save to multiple locations at once as a backup, and notes cloud availability varies by market. Like the camera in our eufy IndoorCam C210 review, the local card means basic recording does not depend on a subscription; and if you want a still larger local ceiling, our Reolink E1 review covers a rival that pairs local storage with a higher-resolution sensor.

Two-way talk, Sleep Mode, Wi-Fi plus Ethernet
Two-way talk runs through the EZVIZ app for checking in or warning off. Sleep Mode is the privacy control: one tap in the app stops monitoring and recording until you wake the camera. For the connection, the C6N offers 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and — unusually welcome at this level — a wired RJ45 Ethernet port, so a room with weak wireless does not have to be a room without a camera. Power is a 5V/1A Micro USB adapter, and the box includes a generous 3-metre power cable.
Pros and cons
Pros
- 340° pan / 55° tilt with smart tracking that follows a moving object
- Smart IR night vision rated to 10m (33ft) with automatic day/night switching
- Local recording to microSD up to 256GB, plus cloud and EZVIZ NVR options
- Wired Ethernet port alongside Wi-Fi — rare flexibility in a budget pan-tilt
- Two-way talk and a one-tap Sleep Mode for privacy
- 3m power cable, base and screw kit included in the official box list
Cons
- Motion detection only — no person or pet detection in the official spec
- 1080p only, and the US spec publishes no maximum frame rate
- 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only; no 5GHz band
- H.264 only on this model — newer C6N variants list newer compression and resolutions, which invites listing confusion
- Micro USB power, corded only; no battery
- microSD card not included; cloud storage availability varies by market
Who it's for
The C6N (1080p) is for buyers who want one inexpensive camera to watch a whole room — following a pet, checking on kids after school, or covering a front hall — and to keep the footage on a local card they own. The Ethernet port also makes it a sensible pick for a room where the Wi-Fi signal is poor but a cable can reach.
It's not for: anyone who needs alerts that distinguish people from pets, 2K-or-higher detail, 5GHz Wi-Fi, or a battery camera. And if the listing in front of you says C6N 3MP, 4MP or G1 4K, judge that camera by its own spec sheet — this review does not describe it.
FAQ
Which EZVIZ C6N is this review about?
The original 1080p US model, CS-C6N-A0-1C2WFR (1920 × 1080, microSD up to 256GB, 88 × 88.2 × 119mm, 218g). EZVIZ also sells C6N 3MP, C6N 4MP and C6N G1 4K variants with different sensors, lenses and storage limits. Check the model number on the listing against this one before you buy.
Does the EZVIZ C6N detect people or pets?
Not according to its official US specification. The smart alarm lists motion detection only. The camera can track a moving object and send an alert with an image, but the spec gives it no way to label that object as a person or a pet.
Does the C6N need a subscription?
No for local recording: footage can go to a microSD card up to 256GB (bought separately). EZVIZ Cloud is listed as an additional, encrypted option, and EZVIZ notes cloud storage is only available in certain markets — check availability before counting on it.
Can the C6N work on a wired connection?
Yes. Alongside 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), it has a 10M/100M self-adaptive RJ45 Ethernet port. Power still comes from the 5V/1A Micro USB adapter — the official spec lists no Power over Ethernet.
How far can the C6N see at night?
EZVIZ rates the infrared range at up to 10 metres (32.81ft, marketed as 33ft). Its Smart IR adjusts the infrared intensity automatically to reduce overexposure on subjects close to the camera in night-vision mode.
