Google Nest Cam (Wired) Review
Nest Cam is the smoothest experience for Google Home users who want reliable alerts and clean design—plan on Nest Aware for history.
Google’s wired Nest Cam is built for people who live in Google Home automations: lights on when person detected, announcements on Nest speakers, and familiar Material Design in the app.
HDR and lighting
HDR helps when the camera faces windows. We saw less blown-out backgrounds than on non-HDR budget cams. Low-light noise is controlled, though fine texture in shadows trails the eufy S350’s 4K sensor.
Subscriptions
Live view is free. Event history, familiar face hints, and clip sharing require Nest Aware. Factor ~$6–$12/month into your total cost of ownership if you care about reviewing past footage.
Who is it for?
Nest Cam (wired) fits Google households that want polished hardware and do not need SD cards. Renters who cannot run power cords should look at battery options elsewhere in our guides.
