Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen) Review
A polished choice for Alexa households already using Ring Alarm or doorbells—less compelling if you want local storage without a subscription.
Ring’s Indoor Cam (2nd Gen) targets buyers who already live inside Amazon’s smart home stack. It is smaller than the first generation and easier to aim on a bookshelf or kitchen counter.
Design and placement
The puck-shaped body includes a status LED you can dim at night. We like the flexible stand for angling toward a hallway without wall mounting. Cable management is tidy with the optional swivel mount.
App and alerts
Motion notifications arrive quickly on iOS and Android. Person alerts are reliable with Ring Home, though free users only get live view—no downloadable event history. Pair it with a Ring doorbell to view indoor and outdoor feeds in one timeline.
Video and audio
1080p is sufficient for identifying visitors, but fine details (license plates through a window) are softer than 2K/4K competitors. Two-way talk is clear; slight speaker echo is normal at high volume.
Bottom line
Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen) makes sense for Alexa-centric homes. If you want local storage or higher resolution without paying monthly, compare Wyze Cam v4 and eufy S350.
